After acting as the Executive Director for a period of time, Mr. Kennedy Orwa was confirmed as the Executive Director of ELCI by the Board of Directors in May this year. Mr. Orwa holds a degree in communications from Daystar University (Kenya), and a certificate in Institutional Management and Business Planning (International), from Plymouth University (United Kingdom). He has nearly fifteen years’ experience in development work, both in environmental and social contexts
As the Acting Executive Director, Mr. Orwa already led ELCI in developing and implementing a variety of strategies for institutional viability. He takes up this new substantive role with the resolve to ensure ELCI makes its contribution even more effectively towards attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Having led ELCI in developing the “2020 Strategy”, he now shoulders the responsibility of ensuring ELCI continues the role of strengthening the collective action of civil society organizations to contribute to a healthy, productive and sustainable environment for all life. In particular, Mr Orwa will oversee ELCI’s delivery within the thematic areas of Agriculture and Food Security; Climate Change and Energy; as well as Biodiversity and Natural Resource Management, the three pillars of the 2020 Strategy.
